We are delighted to announce that the following outstanding researchers have accepted to speak at Corpora & Discourse 2020:

Silvia Bernardini

Silvia Bernardini (Department of Interpreting and Translation, University of Bologna, Italy) is an expert in the applications of corpus linguistics to translation and interpreting. She has published widely in this area and has co-authored software for corpus interfaces and corpus compilation, including BootCaT.

Silvia Bernardini will address the question: If artificial intelligence is making our students dumb, can CADS make them smarter? Learning from corpora in the time of big data

Gavin Brookes

Gavin Brookes (ESRC Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science, Lancaster University, UK) is an expert on the application of corpus linguistics and discourse analysis to socially important topics including mental health, dementia and obesity. He is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Corpus Linguistics. His publications include The Language of Patient Feedback: A Corpus Linguistic Study of Online Health Communication (Routledge, with P. Baker and C. Evans) and Corpus, Discourse and Mental Health (Bloomsbury, with D. Hunt).
